Jell-O And Workboots

A few moments with your shoes can change your life. Your worn out boots can show you how you move through life. Your sneakers get tilted, scuffed and stretched out. Your slippers get pressed on, pushed on and shaped from your soul to your sole. Your shoes sit beneath all your movements and they form
themselves to your gesture. Like jello in a mold, your shoes become just like you. Look at them and sense the trail of your activities.

Meditate on Your Loafers

You can even meditate on your shoes. You will find your strength, your fear, your power and your
distortions all in the contour of the wear of your running shoes. What you will come face to face with in
this process is the mold you press into the world. It is the default shape of your action. You can meet
yourself more deeply by opening to the experience of what your worn out loafers tell you about yourself.

You can find great love and compassion for your journey, as you look at the shape pressed into your
hiking boots.

As you meditate on your shoes you are exposing your unconscious, nonverbal patterns. It is a little bit like
looking in a mirror. Your well-worn shoes reflect your life’s rhythms. Your shoes mold to the vibration of
your path.

The wear of your shoes tells you where you have been. Not physically. Looking at your shoes won’t tell
you that you went to Blockbuster to rent Moonstruck and then stopped in to visit an old friend who
offered you butter cookies she just baked. Instead, the stretching and pulling of the fabric of the shoe will
give you a feeling about how you stretch and pull in your life to make things go the way you want them to
go. By opening to this feeling and loving yourself through it, your leather heels can offer a surprising
healing.

Shoe Meditation:

Sit across from your most worn pair of running shoes or your oldest hiking boots or your most tattered
pair of slippers. Just look at them for awhile. Look at them as if you have never seen them before. When
you feel ready, follow these 3 steps:

1. Notice how intimately the life force within you interacts with the physical world through your shoes.
Look at any points of wear, stretch or tug that are apparent in the shape of the shoes. Get a sense of how
responsive the physical world is to your gesture.

2. Notice your body’s lines of force as they are written into your shoes. Become sensitive to the shape of
your action as it is molded into the fabric of each shoe.

3. Love yourself through your shoes. You may see some asymmetries or distortions that remind you of
aspects of yourself that you struggle with. Send yourself love by opening to these patterns and by simply
loving your worn out old shoes. You may see aspects of your character that you love reflected in your
shoes. Enjoy a moment of feeling those noble and brilliant qualities reflected in the artwork of your feet as
they have created your shoes’ wear pattern. Sit for a while in the jello of your shoes. Love and appreciate
the shape of your life-force-jello-mold.

Virtual Shoes

Now that you have spent a little time in love and acceptance of your human patterns by embracing the
message of your old shoes, let’s make some new, intentional shoes. These shoes won’t soak up the
influence of your unconscious patterns the way the leather and canvas did.

These virtual shoes offer you
an influence of your choosing. You can create these shoes out of any material, any color and most
importantly, any qualities you choose. And in the same way that you influenced your old shoes, your new
shoes will influence you. You can make these virtual shoes of love or wisdom or prosperity. You can make
them shoes of a specific skill, like slide guitar-playing shoes or French pastry baking shoes or public
speaking shoes.

As you have fun creating all kinds of new virtual shoes, you will find that certain ones feel like home. They
feel empowering and comfortable. They lift your posture and tickle you into a smile. Those are the ones
you will want to wear the most often. And unlike your physical shoes, which mold themselves to you the
more you wear them, your virtual shoes will stay true to their nature. You will gradually gel into the
shape of your virtual shoes as they influence you toward your desired qualities the more you wear them.

Wearing your virtual shoes, you will become more intimate with the nature of love or wisdom or
prosperity. You will imbibe the lines of force needed for expert guitar playing or pastry baking or empire
building. You will learn to know and love yourself as a musician or baker or entrepreneur. And the more
these shoes wear you in, the more like them you will become.

Virtual Shoe Meditation:

To begin this process, notice an area of your life in which you feel an intense desire. It may be a spiritual
desire. You may want to feel more connected to God or to feel unconditionally loving toward all beings or
to live a life of joyful service. It may be an interpersonal desire. You can use your new virtual shoes to
assist you in creating a loving relationship or to improve the quality of communication in your current
interactions. If you are steeped in a material desire, your virtual shoes may hold the lines of force
necessary for owning a vintage blues guitar or a professional pastry kitchen or a palace on your own
tropical island. Once you have a sense of the influence you desire, get a sense of the shoes that embody
that quality and sit across from your new virtual shoes and follow these three steps:

1. Notice how beautiful they are. Notice how good you feel when you look at them. If you don’t feel good
when you get a sense about them (a visual image is not necessary) keep reconstructing them, reinventing
them, recreating them until you really like them, until you get a feeling of ease and happiness and relief
when you ponder them.

2. Notice how resilient they are. They are made of the stuff of the quality you chose, love, wisdom,
prosperity, French pastry skill. No matter how you twist them or press on them, they spring right back
into their true nature. These shoes reveal the joy in these qualities and they make the qualities easy to
access.

3. Get a sense of putting these shoes on your feet and becoming one with the quality of the shoes. Realize
that with every stretch and bump and pressure exerted by your walking you are being influenced toward
unconditional love or prosperity. The shoes maintain their quality and you are being molded toward your
desire.

Every morning as you choose from your physical shoes, look in your mind for a pair of virtual shoes to
wear for the day. As you see your physical sneakers getting more and more like your feet, know that you
are getting more and more like your virtual shoes. As you move through your day, feel your invisible
footwear leading you toward your desire. See if your posture changes as you recall that you are wearing
your love sandals. See if your outlook brightens as you stroll through the park at sunset in your prosperity
pumps. By letting yourself be molded to the intention of your virtual shoes you bring yourself into greater
alignment with your soul’s intention.

You Need People

If you’re stuck living a life you wouldn’t have consciously chosen if you had it to do all over again, what can you realistically do about it?

The Black Hole

By “stuck” I mean truly, deeply stuck. You’ve got the stable job, the family, and the mortgage. But even though your situation looks pretty good from an external standpoint, you’re not happy about it. It’s not fulfilling, and you know you should be doing something else, but at the same time, you know there are no guarantees, and you feel as if the only way out would be to destroy what you’ve got and rebuild from scratch. And that isn’t something you’re willing to do.

It’s not like you haven’t tried, but realistically you can’t see any viable, intelligent options to get things moving in a new direction. It’s like you’re in a black hole, a gravitational well that makes it impossible for you to ever reach escape velocity. It seems to take you a massive amount of effort just to move an inch, and if you let up for an instant, you’re sucked right back down again. You feel trapped, maybe even depressed, and perhaps you even wonder if you should just suck it up and take it. It’s not really that bad compared to most people, right?

On your best days, you’re consciously aware of your situation but still don’t see a way out. But on your worst days, you’re in denial about the whole thing and may succumb to escapist tendencies.

You might read books that even directly address your situation, but they don’t help you much. Their solutions don’t seem practical for you. Perhaps they rely too much on things like putting your faith in the universe and hoping things will work out, and that sounds risky and foolish to you.

What can you do in such a situation? Is there a way out?

The Escape

Yes, there is a way out. The solution is people. Throw different people at the problem.

When you’re stuck in a black hole where it’s impossible for you to reach escape velocity, your only hope for escape is to find an even stronger gravitational field to pull you out. People act a lot like like gravitational fields, and when you put enough of them together, all tugging at you in a consistent direction, you’re going to move.

On the positive side, this is how groups like Alcoholics Anonymous or Weight Watchers work. Take an overweight or alcoholic person, surround them with people who will help pull them up to a new level, and given enough time, it works.

On the negative side, this is how cults work as well. Take a person out of their ordinary environment, surround them with crazy people, and a nutso they become.

Unfortunately, most people join the cult of mediocrity without realizing it because they surround themselves with average, ho-hum, dull, going-nowhere people. This cult is one that many people join by default.

If the people in your life right now are causing you to remain stuck, you need to find ways to spend less time with them and more time with people who can help pull you up to a new level. It’s really that simple. Drop the losers lest ye be one.

If you find that the people you spend the most time with are high achievers, I’d bet you’re either a high achiever yourself or quickly becoming one. And if the predominant people in your life are going nowhere, you already know how stuck you are.

To escape mediocrity requires that you surround yourself with the exceptional. Steal time from your mediocre relationships, and invest it in building new relationships with people you find extraordinary. Join clubs and organizations you’re just barely qualified to join. Apply for a job where you’ll be surrounded by highly competent people. Join a gym that intimidates you. Volunteer for assignments that allow you to work with higher caliber people, even if you do it for free.

Once you meet such people, find ways to do favors for them. Give, expecting nothing in return. Build the relationship first, even if it seems very unbalanced in the beginning. The energy of such people will rub off on you. And with enough rubbing, you’ll have raised your own energy and awareness enough to reach escape velocity and break out of mediocrity.

So much of success is nothing but a mindset, and mindsets are contagious. You limit yourself unnecessarily when you surround yourself with people who are just as limited. Instead, spend more time with people who intimidate you until you’re no longer intimidated. Find a herd where you’re one of the slowest stragglers instead of one of the pack you’ll move a lot faster and make rapid gains that way.

Whenever you want to pull yourseulf up to a new level of performance, start by asking yourself, “Who’s already getting the results I want, and where can I find them?” Then just start showing up where they show up. Introduce yourself to as many people as you can, and go from there. But most importantly, show up.

As A Man Thinketh Discover How To Stop Attracting Weeds In Your Garden of Life

Why are there weeds in my rose Garden?

When I was a child, I helped my mom and dad pull weeds in our garden. I thought weeds were just odd looking plants and I did not understand why we had to pull them. My mom explained to me that if we did not pull the weeds it would continue to grow and take over our beautiful garden. It was also important that we pull the weeds from the root to prevent them from growing back.

I shared that story with you because it relates to how we live our life at times. We have a vision of having our goals and dreams come to life. But when we look around, we see the opposite happen.

James Allen author of As a Man thinketh says,

“Mind may be likened to a garden which may be intelligently cultivated or neglected, it will and must bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein and will continue to produce their kind”

Are you attracting or distracting your dreams?

I mentioned in the beginning of the article that I had to learn to pull the weed from the root to prevent it from growing back.

In the same way, that is what we have to do with our lives when our dreams are out of focus.

Getting to the root of distraction is difficult and involves really looking at yourself and asking why.

A lot of time fear is at the root of the weed.

When I looked at the root of the weeds in my life I found that fear of rejection ruled my garden.

I would get excited for an hour about my dream and then I would talk myself out of my excitement. I would frustrate myself so much that I would just give up.

Take a moment and see what is causing weeds to grow and smother your beautiful dreams.

What could you do right now to take a step in the right direction? All it takes is one step.

The universe rewards your effort with the next step for you to take.

We have to trust what our hearts tell us and know that what is planted in the heart can be produced in life.

Be Bold to go after your dreams and watch the weeds wither away.
