Power of Intentions

I want you to have fun and play with this experiment for a week. I figure if we can get a whole bunch of people doing some really positive things, then potentially some really cool things could happen - for all of us.

The experiment is all about intentions.

I have noticed that as soon as people sign up for coaching, big things - good things - start to happen in their lives. First of all they feel a whole lot better. Then cool things, groovy opportunities open up for them, even before we have really started our first session. Things like people get a new job offer, someone buys them flowers, or they start to connect on a whole new level with their spouse, or they find the perfect pair of shoes they have yearned for forever.

These kinds of things are well documented. You can call it ‘attraction’, ‘placebo effect’, ‘positive thinking‘ or ’self-fulfilling prophecy’.

It doesn’t matter - it all works the same. When someone decides they want something more and want to grow, they start growing immediately. And then good things happen.

I used the power of intention to attract my husband. When I was single and had had enough of the single life, I wrote a letter to my future husband, dated the day of our wedding, telling him how much I loved him and our life together. Two months later I met the man I married. I kept the letter for three years until our actual wedding day and gave it to him on the day. The energy I had when I set about creating something really positive started a huge tidal wave of great things in my life not least of which included a fabulous life partner.

Ready to play?

Your mission is this:

Every day this week, beside your things to do list for the day, write an intention that you want for your life or business that is desired but not predictable. So beside “go to the gym” write something like “tall dark and gorgeous man asks me for a date”, beside “ring accountant” write “receive very large cheque”, beside “write report”, write “get a call from tv reporter wanting to do profile as a leading national businesswoman”, beside “write article” put “accept Oprah’s invitation to appear on her show about the new book”.

It does not matter if your logical brain is rejecting these thoughts as pure fantasy. Just go with it and have fun. Look at your written intention and imagine you have already received these things in your life - feel the wonderful feelings that come with having these opportunities in your life.

I cannot guarantee you will get these things.
However I can guarantee the following will happen:

You will immediately feel better. You will tap in to the power of ‘potential’ that is all around you.

You will bring more energy and excitement to your work and life projects and goals. As you make your list of intentions each day what you write down will start to feel real to you. You will start to write things that may in fact really happen. This will feel awesome.

You will have more energy to tackle the ugly yucky things on your to do list because you will think differently about them with a new perspective on possibilities.

Who knows? That tall, dark, and handsome man may just appear…

Do this for a week, even on the weekends. Put notes on your fridge, in your bathroom, beside your bed, in your wallet. Just have fun with this! Tell me what happens - I’d love to know - and I can let all the Compass Bearings subscribers what happened as well.

What to Do When Your Spouse or Your Friends are Negative

This year (2004), I’ve completed over 64 seminars. And one of the most common questions asked is, “What do I do when my spouse, partner or friend is being negative?”

As you practice Law of Attraction in your life, you become more aware of what you are attracting and start to understand that you can control what you attract with deliberate use of Law of Attraction. The more deliberate you become in controlling what you want to attract, the less and less tolerant you become of any situation that doesn’t feel good—in particular, negative relationships in your life.
But what do you do when the person who is being negative is your partner, spouse or child? It’s not likely you will just eliminate them from your life altogether. How can you deal with a situation that is contaminating your positive energy with negative energy?

First of all, I’d like you to remember that it takes two people to argue or fight and you always have a choice about what you choose to talk about. When you are with your mate, or friend or child and they are complaining about something they don’t like or telling you how much their life isn’t working in some respect, you always have two choices:

1) You can buy into their conversation, join it and thereby lower your vibration to match theirs; or

2) You can steer the conversation in a direction that creates change in the vibration

How do you steer a conversation into a more positive vibration? It’s quite simple; just ask the question, “So what do you want?” That question may surprise them because they are not used to answering it. They may even have some resistance. But keep asking it. When they do answer, you’ll soon hear their words change and see how the change of words always creates a change in their vibration. The best news of all is that a person can only hold one vibration at a time.

Yes, we all have negative people in our lives, but now you have a tool to use when you feel your positive energy becoming affected by anyone’s negative energy. From now on, your experiences with negative people can be different!

Here’s your assignment! Write the question, “So what do you want?” on post-it notes and put them by your phone, on your fridge and on your bathroom mirror. This is a powerful tool that delivers rapid change!

10 Ways to Kink Your Vibe

An aligned vibration is essential to getting what you want in life. Many aren’t aware of their vibration or the role it plays in creating life experiences. An out-of-alignment vibration keeps people in a rut and prevents dreams, miracles, and other good things from happening. Here are ten ways you may be sabotaging your vibration without realizing it:

1. Worrisome thoughts - Anxious, concerned, and fearful thoughts disconnect you from source energy, bringing you closer to the things you don’t want in life. Habitual negative thinking is the primary culprit for a polluted vibration.

2. Doing what you “have to” - Doing things you don’t want to do, either out of obligation or because you believe you “have to,” creates resistance and other disturbances in your energy.

3. Eating “right” and eating emotionally - Basing food choices on what you’ve been told is healthy may or may not be. If you don’t enjoy eating it, it’s not good for you or your vibration. Similarly, impulsive or subconscious eating (to quell difficult emotions) is also bad for your vibration.

4. Playing the martyr - Withholding good things from yourself and refraining from enjoyment of life is another way to cut off your connection to source energy and kink the vibe.

5. Tolerating others - The act of tolerating anything is a drain on your energy, especially when it’s people you’d rather not be around.

6. Isolating yourself from nature - Your connection to source wilts when you sequester yourself from nature. Uninterrupted exposure to concrete, artificial lighting, stale air, etc. doesn’t allow for energetic rejuvenation.

7. Being hard on yourself - Feeling guilty, embarrassed, disappointed or angry with yourself is a sure-fire way to contaminate your vibration. Negative emotions directed inward are toxic to healthy personal energy.

8. Being a news/TV junkie - Exposing yourself to the standard negative news and social gossip takes a strong toll on the vibration. Many popular TV shows also assail energy with regular violence and sarcasm.

9. Harboring resentment - Continual feelings of resentment toward a situation, person or group kinks up the vibe over time. That includes parents, bosses, religious groups, foreign countries, etc.

10. Disorganized physical space - A chaotic environment subtly but relentlessly chisels away at a healthy vibration. Spending time in an atmosphere that doesn’t feel good will deplete your energy over time, affecting your vibration as well.
